Playing time is adjusted accordingly to two hours. The Extension increases the number of players to up to 6. The Expansion can accommodate 3 to 4 players in around 90 minutes. It is not necessary to buy the latter when buying the former, buying only the Extension however without owning the Expansion is pointless. The Expansion can be purchased at USD 49 while the Extension at USD 25 (or equivalent). This explains the slight variations in terminology.
