Star Trek's storied universe welcomes "Strange New Worlds" with the promise of a fresh journey that treads the line between nostalgia and innovation. "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" - Season One Review The visuals, the costumes, the cinematography are great. The stories are a little weak, but that is ok too-they were in the original. Additionally, some of the side storylines of Spock and Shura require you to just accept the fact that you never heard these things about them before. Now, time and gain, he does seem to take inspiration from Kirk, but it is not an attempt to be him. The character of Christopher Pike is well played as a man of character and leadership who is not William Shatner's iconic, James T. They make you feel like this is a natural precedent to the TV show. They capture the essence and tone of the Enterprise. It does something really interesting and difficult in that it creates backstory and doesn't fail as the Star Wars Prequels did by making the prequel seem more advanced than the predecessor. This is the first one that actually manages to really, really match the excellence of the first. They all try to forge their own way and stay true to the Star Trek Universe created by Gene Roddenberry in the 1960's. Many of the ones I have seen have been very good.
